Laughing gas ban city center

Group chairman Tiny Meese: “We are happy that we now have a way to protect our residents from themselves”.

Over the past few years we have asked the municipal executive several times in writing about the use of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) in Maastricht and we urged the mayor and aldermen to intervene. Laughing gas is frequently used in nightlife, in student rooms, during events and on the street. The gas is inhaled through a balloon and causes a brief intoxication. Frequent use can eventually lead to nervous system damage and spinal cord injury.

Party Maastricht Safe wants to protect people from themselves. In anticipation of a national ban, a ban will soon be included in the general local ordinance. As a result, it is prohibited to possess laughing gas in Maastricht areas where use occurs most often.
