Partij Veilig Maastricht (PVM) is a center-right party, with a big social heart.
Safety, combatting poverty and low charges for inhabitants of Maastricht are PVM’s top priority.
The well being of our inhabitants, our traditions, norms and values, caring for the elderly, the ill and youth are our focal points.

Safety
- Neighbourhood police officers available full-time for the neighbourhoods.
- Actively involving citizens in consultations about neighborhood problems.
- Tough approach against radicalisation.
- Information program for seniors about forms of fraud via the internet and at the front door.
- A tough approach against various forms of subversion in the neighbourhoods, such as drug crime and the trade in laughing gas (nitrous oxide).
(Health) care
- Cooperation between the municipality, housing associations and care organizations must be improved by making clearer and measurable agreements.
- We limit the number of partners involved to a minimum.
- We want to continuously measure whether healthcare resources are being used efficiently. A tool is being developed for this purpose and audits will be executed regularly.
- Anyone who needs care will receive it, under all circumstances.
- Opening a 24-hour hotline for individuals that display confused behaviour in order to provide immediate assistance.
Seniors
- Seniors should receive maximum support in the process of growing older.
- Use the knowledge and experience of the elderly by giving them an active voice in consultative bodies.
After all, they know what is best for them. - Public buildings are maximally tailored to the needs of seniors.
- Silent poverty among seniors must be combatted more actively.
- The subscription fee must be cancelled. In this way, the elderly who really need it will receive sufficient care again. The strongest shoulders should carry the heaviest loads. Not the other way around.
- Senior transportation options must remain affordable and generously available.
- Seniors can use regular public transport at a reduced rate during off-peak hours.
Socially
- Generous and just poverty policy.
- No Maastricht child should have to live in poverty.
- Silent poverty deserves special attention.
- The 50-family approach was successful. We are going to expand this approach.
- Neighborhood desks where you can report with your questions and challenges.
- Reintroduction of city district leaders.
- Small-scale projects in the neighborhoods prepare vulnerable young people for the labor market and give them a purpose in life.
Youth
- Youth care and education must work together better in order to increase the well-being of our children.
- Better coordination enables us to tackle problems at an early stage.
- Better cooperation between the municipality, youth care and education.
- The waiting lists for youth care must be drastically shortened.
Education
- All forms of secondary education on both sides of the Maas.
- Preserve public and Catholic education.
- Safe and modern housing for schools.
- Set aside extra money so that all schools get good air treatment and climate control.
- Children should not have to stay at home due to a lack of school housing.
Public health
- The rat nuisance must be drastically reduced by increasing the number of automatic rat traps in the sewer system.
- Maastricht has to make and implement plans now to keep the city free of high water in the future.
Commmunication and participation
- Honest and open conversations with residents about matters that are important to them.
- Actively involve residents in decisions.
- The municipality must communicate through all channels in understandable and simple language.
- The municipality must show more initiative when it comes to informing and communicating.

Animal welfare
- A 24-hour animal shelter is indispensable in Maastricht. This should never be economised on.
- Appoint municipal animal welfare supervisor.
- Tough approach to animal cruelty.
Housing
- A good balance of owner-occupied, affordable and social rental homes ensures quality of life in the neighbourhoods.
- Affordable care homes and life-course resistant housing are not forgotten.
- Shorten waiting lists by building new residential areas.
- Expropriation is a serious means and is only allowed in the case of a major social issue and public interest.
Students
- Expansion of the university and its number of students is only allowed if there are enough campuses to guarantee the living climate in the neighborhoods and the living standards for students themselves.
- Student rooms must always be safe and comply with the rules.
- Harassment of students must be dealt with more strictly. Perpetrators are caught and prosecuted.
- There will be a counter that will ensure that the barriers and red tape that come with working for students from outside Europe disappear. Both the employer and the student who wants to work will receive support during the whole process.
Culture
- Local culture is very important because it connects residents and defines who we are.
- Better support for the amateur arts in order to be able to guarantee the professional arts in the long run.
- Extra investment in Maastricht’s tangible and intangible heritage.
- Reconstruction of lost monuments such as the powder tower of Wyck or a city gate and thereby strengthening our tourist position.
- Small-scale events are just as important as large-scale events.
- Events should be better spread across the city.
Durability and environment
- The policy for sustainability and the environment must serve safety and public health. It is a very important theme for Party Maastricht Safe.
- Good and smooth cooperation with border municipalities. That is not the case now.
- Solar panels belong on roofs and places where there is no disturbance of the public space. Valuable agriculutural (land) is not one of those.
- Windmills pollute the horizon and are only installed when all other options have been exhausted.
- An environmental zone is a serious option, provided it makes an effective contribution to air quality and all visitors can be held accountable for compliance with the zone.
- Waste reduction management is good, but should never be at the expense of quality of life.
- The municipal waste policy must be re-examined and re-designed.
Mobility
- More parking spaces for our residents in the neighbourhoods.
- Day tourists park on the outskirts of the city. Not on the outskirts of the city center.
- Incorrectly parked bicycles are enforced more strictly because of the safety of pedestrians and the disabled.
- Installing mobile cameras and applying speed-reducing measures on numerous main roads in the neighbourhoods.
- Seniors receive a discount if they want to use public transport in the off-peak rate.
Sports
- Everyone should be able to exercise in their own neighbourhood.
- We will reintroduce school swimming.
- The municipality must ensure that stadium De Geusselt meets the requirements of 2022 in order to guarantee the safety of all visitors.
- The municipality must actively advise and assist amateur sport in order to keep sports affordable.
- Party Maastricht Safe wants to build an indoor venue for urban sports such as skating, bmx and parcours/free running. This creates a safe and weatherproof environment that allows for meeting adn interaction.
Integration
- Only real refugees are taken in.
- Expansion of refugee centers is only allowed under strict conditions.
- More frequent and better consultation between the municipality and COA.
- People who stay in Maastricht receive a tailor-made integration program that meets Maastricht standards.
Economy
- Active lobbying to bring new businesses to Maastricht.
- Maintain employment in the few industry that is left.
- Continue to develop knowledge industry.
- Fill in vacant shops in the city center and suburbs with starters.
Finances
- Taxes may not be increased. Only an inflation adjustment is allowed.
- Maastricht must become and remain financially healthy.
- Reserves must be replenished after use.
- Funds obtained must be spent on what they are intended for.
